Whitewater River

I spent an afternoon at the Whitewater River Canyon, just northwest of Palm Springs. Great place to hike and enjoy running streams of water (you gotta have that, sometimes, when you live in the desert!) Most of the park is really a huge wash, with boulders and gravel every-which-way. Makes for fun hiking! The day before I visited a mountain lion was spotted in one of the back canyons, so I was on the lookout. I'd love to see a mountain lion (from afar, of course!)

Did I find a mountain lion track? I think so! I compared the data from this website and deduced that it might be one! Notice that it is about the same width as the heal mark from the adult human shoe-print nearby. Bobcat prints are less than two inches. This print was way bigger. Whoo-hoo, I found a mountain lion print!
