This phenomenal desert plant is actually a type of cactus called an Ocotillo. It is somewhere between 10-15 ft tall and has super sharp thorns all down its stems. It blooms big in the spring with bright red flowers at its tips.
This flower is called the Desert Star
I sneaked a picture of Greg not looking at wildflowers through the branches of the Ocotillo! :) All those pretty little stem leaves are disguising extremely sharp thorns. Watch out!
This gorgeous flower is called the Desert Five-Spot. It only opens up this far in late afternoon. Look how perfect the formation of the five red spots are. Creation is so amazing!
Not only did Anza-Borrego have beautiful meadows and mountains, it also had deep canyons and rock outcroppings. Awesome! Again, it is always difficult to show how deep this canyon really was.
"Okay, this area is very guy-like, so you can take my picture now."
We are Greg and Alicia Bradley. We are just regular folks with regular jobs and a regular life.
In 2005, Alicia was diagnosed with breast cancer, and our lives changes dramatically. Through surgeries and chemotherapy, a vision for our future changed from the typical American Dream to something more atypical. After deep prayer, research and education, we decided to pursue a common dream...to chuck it all and go cruising on our 44' Thompson Trawler Charlie Ray.
We untied the lines in late 2007 and made it all the way down to Key West, Florida by Spring 2008. You can follow our cruising adventure through the blog archive below.
Our cruise has ended, but our adventures have just begun! Join us as we take "time to see the world!"
