Whale Watching in San Diego

I had the great pleasure of taking a end-of-season whale watching boat tour that left out of San Diego this week. It was THE last cruise of the season, I didn't really expect to see any gray (or any) whales since it was so late in the season. BOY WAS I WRONG!

The ship found a pilot whale first and we kind of followed it around a bit. You couldn't really see it well, and I accepted the fact that the pilot whale would be the only whale I see that day.

Then the show began! A nearby humpback whale started to BREACH out of the water! The huge creature jumped EIGHT times! The volunteers said that they had never seen humpbacks jump this often. What a spectacular show!

I am SO grateful to get to witness such beauty.
